Fedora Going Green

CrossBytes in 2009 had processed at our computer recycling center 5541 Lbs. (2.77 Tons) of E-Waste. That means that with the help of the Fedora Project and our computer nomination program we have stopped

682 lbs. of Lead, 1.19 lbs. of Cadmium, and 154.20 lbs. of Mercury from entering into landfills.

As of Feb 15 2010 we have already processed just shy of a 1/2 ton of E-Waste. We thank all of the corporate donors and personal donors and of course the Fedora project for making all of this possible .

We install fedora with several different spins and desktops from XFCE4, LXDE, Moblin, Gnome, KDE and even PPC on some older macs.

We have always introduced SUGAR and the OLPC to principals when we talk to them about our nomination program.

I hope that the Fedora Project can be a light in the darkness that our economy is reaching out from. Our bedrock principles that created all the components of our operating system have been a great part of our company. We just are doing this because it is the right thing to do.
